About me

Maisie made is a slow fashion brand repurposing  unique and vintage textiles. The search for the fabrics I find  is part of the fun of what I do . From flea markets to charity shops , I love sourcing beautiful fabrics and textiles from here there and everywhere . By producing small drops of unique clothing , made slowly and sustainably with intent and attention to detail.

For the most part,  Maisie made is a very low impact brand , not only is the fabric repurposed but where I can I use vintage buttons and repurpose zips and thread .  For the any of the garments that are made with new fabric , I have sourced only natural and sustainable cloth that can be traced back to source.

Maisie made is a one woman business owned by me,  Maisie ! At the moment, everything is made by me here in my  Dorset studio in a small market town on  the south coast.

A life long passion for textiles, clothing  and sewing has led me to create Maisie made . I love to discover the beauty and potential in textiles that have little to no value in our modern society, from hand embroidered tablecloths that have  been lovingingly hand stitched, used once upon a time for hosting those special tea parties , but sit for years in the back of cupboards, forgotten and unused ....to the nostalgic curtains you remember from your granny's house , to the vintage linens and old textiles  that  have ripped or stained that people have just discarded , thinking they are of no use . To me this is gold dust and only add to the stories behind the clothes I make . Heirloom  clothing with a story to tell.

Clothing that is a joy to make is a joy to wear.

I love to discover beauty and functionality in materials that have little to no value in our society because, for example, they are old, stained or only available in very small quantities.
